The Lipo Doc, Scottsdale, Arizona

Renuvion is a minimally invasive skin tightening treatment. A small handheld device delivers helium plasma and radiofrequency energy under the skin, which prompts the body to make new collagen and elastin. It suits adults with loose skin on the neck, arms, abdomen, hips or thighs, including patients having liposuction. Dr. G prices it as an add-on to his liposuction packages, and your final quote comes at your consultation.

Liposuction removes fat; it is not designed to tighten the skin over the area. Renuvion lets Dr. G treat that skin in the same visit, so patients concerned about loose skin after fat removal can plan for both.

What Renuvion costs

What the device does under the skin

Renuvion pairs two kinds of energy in one handpiece.
  1. 01

    Helium plasma

A small handheld device releases helium plasma under the skin. The plasma produces a precise, controlled heating effect in the tissue.

  2. 02

    Radiofrequency energy

Radiofrequency energy delivered with the plasma tightens and smooths the skin further.

  3. 03

    New collagen and elastin

The heat prompts the body to make collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm. That process continues for months after the treatment.

Ask Dr. G whether Renuvion fits the area you want to change.

Treatment day and the weeks after

Anesthesia
Local or general, depending on the size of the area and your comfort. Most patients feel little or no pain during the procedure.
Time in the procedure room
Usually 1 to 3 hours, depending on the size of the treatment area.
The first days
Swelling, bruising and some tenderness are common and usually ease within a few days. Most patients can return to normal activities shortly after treatment.
The following weeks and months
Hold off on strenuous exercise for a few weeks. Skin often looks tighter right away and keeps improving for several months as collagen forms. Results vary.

Renuvion questions

Is Renuvion a surgical procedure?
Not in the traditional sense. Renuvion is minimally invasive and needs no large incisions, so recovery is usually quicker than after traditional surgery.
What areas of the body can be treated with Renuvion?
The neck, arms, abdomen, hips and thighs. Dr. G uses it to reduce loose skin in those areas, most often alongside liposuction.
How long does a Renuvion treatment take?
Usually between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the size of the area. It is done under local or general anesthesia, chosen for the extent of the treatment and your comfort.
What is the recovery process like after Renuvion?
Expect some swelling and bruising, which usually eases within a few days. Most patients return to normal activities shortly after treatment, but strenuous exercise should wait a few weeks while the area recovers.
When will I see results from my Renuvion treatment?
Many patients notice tighter skin right away. The skin keeps changing over the next several months as it makes new collagen and elastin. Results vary from person to person.
Is Renuvion safe, and are there any side effects?
Side effects are usually minor and temporary: swelling, bruising and some discomfort in the treated area. Like any procedure, Renuvion carries risks, and Dr. G goes through them with you at your consultation.
