Dr. George Armendariz, MD

The Lipo Doc, Scottsdale, Arizona

Liposuction removes pockets of fat that diet and exercise have not shifted, using a thin cannula through small incisions. It suits adults who want a better shape rather than weight loss, and True Contour sets no BMI limit once you are cleared for surgery. Pricing is by package: each one covers a set of areas and lists a starting price, and your own total depends on the areas you treat.

Dr. Armendariz has performed more than 2,000 liposuction procedures. Member of the American Society of Liposuction Surgery.

Anesthesia
Dr. G recommends the anesthesia at your consultation, based on the areas treated and your comfort.
Time in surgery
Two to four hours for most patients, depending on the size and number of areas.
BMI limit
None. Most patients can go ahead as soon as they are cleared for surgery.
Technique
Tumescent liposuction, with PAL or VASER where an area calls for it.

Liposuction packages, priced by area

Each package groups areas patients often treat together. Every figure is a starting price; the areas you choose set your total.
  1. Summer Body Package, liposuction of the upper and lower abdomen plus both flanks, starting at $7,750.
  2. Body 360 Package, liposuction of the upper and lower abdomen, both flanks and the upper and lower back, starting at $9,750.
  3. Great Legs 360 Package, inner and outer thighs, knees and front and back of the quads, starting at $7,350.
  4. Great Arms Package, back of the triceps, deltoid and bicep area, starting at $5,500.
  5. Mons Lipo Package, liposuction of the mons pubis, starting at $3,750.
  6. Renuvion skin tightening add-on, starting at $3,500.
  7. Fat transfer add-on for a BBL or natural breast augmentation, starting at $3,500.

Payment plans are available through Cherry, CareCredit and PatientFi. Your consultation fee is credited in full toward any procedure you book. A Brazilian butt lift or a natural breast augmentation pairs the liposuction that collects the fat with the fat transfer add-on.

Where Dr. G removes fat most often

Liposuction can treat almost any area with stubborn fat. These four are the most requested.
  • Abdomen and waist

The upper and lower abdomen and both flanks, for a flatter, more defined midsection. A common request from both women and men.

  • Hips and thighs

Inner and outer thighs, knees and hips, where fat often holds on through diet and exercise. Taking it out can bring the lower body into better proportion.

  • Upper arms and back

The back of the arms, bra rolls and the upper and lower back, where extra fat can look soft or undefined.

  • Chin and neck

Fat under the chin and along the neck, for a clearer jawline and a slimmer profile.

  • Before and after: Liposuction to upper and lower abdomen, both flanks and sacral triangle

How liposuction surgery and recovery go

Pre-procedure markings drawn on the abdomen
Treatment areas are marked on the skin before surgery begins.
  1. Consultation

Dr. G looks at the areas you want to change, explains which liposuction technique fits each one, and tells you whether liposuction is the right procedure for you. If it is, you get specific instructions to prepare.

  2. Procedure day

The treatment areas are marked on your skin. Tumescent fluid, a mix of saline, a local anesthetic and a medicine that narrows blood vessels, goes into each area to limit bleeding and pain. A thin cannula then loosens the fat and suctions it out through small incisions.

  3. The first weeks

Swelling, bruising and some discomfort are expected. A compression garment, worn for up to 12 weeks, keeps swelling down and helps healing. Most patients are back at work within 2 to 3 days, depending on the job, and fully recovered within about 4 weeks. Strenuous exercise waits several weeks.

  4. The result

Your new contour shows as the swelling goes down. You get recovery instructions to follow along the way, and results differ from one person to the next.

Who liposuction suits, and who it does not

Liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss one. Realistic goals are part of being a good candidate, and the consultation is where Dr. G decides with you.

Often a good candidate

  • You have pockets of fat that diet and exercise have not changed.
  • You are in good enough health to be cleared for surgery.
  • You want a better contour, not a lower number on the scale.

Often not a good candidate

  • You are underweight.
  • You expect a result liposuction cannot give.
  • Your skin is loose or you have lost a lot of weight. Fat removal alone may leave skin that does not settle smoothly; Renuvion skin tightening can be added to any package.

Liposuction questions

Why is liposuction done?
To remove fat from areas that do not respond to diet and exercise, such as the abdomen, flanks, back, arms, thighs, chin and neck. It reshapes those areas. It is not a substitute for losing weight.
How do I prepare for liposuction surgery?
Dr. Armendariz gives you specific instructions before surgery. They can include limits on food and alcohol, medications and vitamins to take or stop, lab tests, and stopping smoking. Following them closely helps the procedure go safely.
What are the risks of a liposuction procedure?
Liposuction is generally safe in the hands of a trained physician, but like any surgery it carries risks: infection, skin changes, bruising, swelling, pain, scarring, bleeding and uneven contours. Dr. G goes through them with you and the steps that lower them.
Which liposuction technique does True Contour use?
Tumescent liposuction is the base. Fluid with a local anesthetic and a vessel-narrowing medicine goes into the area first, which reduces bleeding and pain and makes the fat easier to remove. Dr. G recommends the approach for each area at your consultation, including power assisted liposuction or VASER where they help.
Will the fat come back after liposuction?
The fat cells that are removed do not grow back. You can still gain weight in other parts of the body, so regular exercise and a balanced diet are what keep the result.
